Meet The ShapeShifter—a force that manifests as multiple characters with multiple personality disorders. It morphs in what we call “shrifts”—bursts of colour, electricity and energy that result in a new character appearing.
A shrift is a truly magical thing to behold. But you never know who or what you’re going to get. The ShapeShifter appears in the wraparound skybox that surrounds Crookwood. Omnipresent.
Behind the scenes, we use the same head shape, mouth set and voice so the audience knows it’s the same character, but the face changes.
From a smiling clown…to an undertaker/mortician in goggles…to a maggot-infested head…to a skull…and back into a clown with dripping fangs, foaming at the mouth and hacking/slagging/spitting at the camera.
When we meet TheShapeShifter for the first time, it is as Moggy. A clown wearing a blue satin jumpsuit emblazoned with yellow stars and two mops of red hair fashioned from steel wool—great for conducting electricity—and a light bulb for a nose, which glows with the intensity of its moods.
The ShapeShifter allows us to present multiple characters across all ten levels of the game while retaining its personality.
